They’re less absorbent
A towel’s purpose is to absorb moisture and if your towels are no longer drying you off, they are no longer effective. -

Rips, holes, frayed edges? Perhaps your towels are fading in color or have permanent stains? When it visibly looks like your towels have seen better days, it’s time to replace them before they continue to degrade. -
They feel scratchy and rough

If your towels still have an odor despite having been freshly washed, it’s time to replace them as they could be harboring bacteria or mildew. -
You can’t remember how long you’ve had them
The life expectancy of a high-quality towels is 2-5 years. With years of regular use and washes, towels wear down becoming less effective and can be hosts to unseen germs and bacteria.
